Active Initiative and Defense Tracker Sheet
A downloadable tool for Windows
An Excel/Google Sheets form to help GM's use the GiffyGlyph's Active Initiative and Defense system from the Darker Dungeons book! (Though may work well for other systems such as Vagabond that do not use the classic initiative order model)
I originally developed this page in Google Sheets, using the App Scripts function to create the "Uncheck All" button seen on screen to click at the end of each round. However, being new to this I am unsure if the published version I linked will retain the app script or allow people to download and use it. As such I also recreated the same function as a Macro in Microsoft Excel in an .xlsx file to download for personal/offline use (for transparency, this is where I had to use ChatGPT to double check why the heck things weren't working)!
Overall, the idea is that for any combat encounter you plan on running, you can put first your players information (Name and AC), and then the enemies information (Name, Attack Bonus, and HP). For the enemies, their attack bonus will automatically calculate the Defense DC the player's will need to beat (D20 + their AC).
Additionally, you can track who has had a turn each round, who has used their reactions, and how many "Interrupt Points" you have per encounter (if you are using that system). Additionally, if you need more or less points you can add/remove check boxes and the total should automatically calculate.
Lastly, and this is the main reason I am publishing this for others to hopefully use, is the "uncheck all" button. At the end of each round, you as the GM can click the button to un-select all the player's and enemies check boxes in columns F and G!
Hope you enjoy it! If you like it and use it your home games let me know how it goes, and of course check out GiffyGlyph's work for more exciting ways to play DnD and other TTRPGs.
